The culinary scene on the
Alpe di Siusi and the surrounding area will make fans of traditional cooking more than happy. The quality of the region's
cuisine has been known and appreciated for centuries: Already the Emperor of Austria, Franz Joseph II., used to have the famous
Völser bread delivered to his table in Vienna. For a taste of the past, culinary specialties from old recipe books can still be tasted during the
“taste weeks”, taking place each year in all three villages around the Alpe di Siusi. During the
“Witch-weeks” in May, for instance, or the
“Knödeltage” (the dumpling days) at the end of September you will want to get to know the traditional cuisine of South Tyrol. Try it and enjoy some tasty, traditional treats – you will not regret is!
